The majority of parents will truthfully tell you that life after birthing a child is not all lollipops & rainbows. Far from it, the postpartum period can be one of the most physically challenging, emotionally turbulent, & overall downright difficult experiences in one's life, especially for a brand-new Mama. 

Postpartum often feels like treading water. But instead of treading for a few minutes, it's more like treading for days upon days, weeks upon weeks. To just stop & check out is not an option as a parent. This is where most beautifully the innate human switch to persevere is awakened. As a parent, perseverance is necessary to survive and thrive. 

Perseverance: continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition; the action or condition or an instance of persevering.

This verb sums up the postpartum period. In a society bent towards individualism and technological living, there has been a significant widening gap of compassionate communal response to care when it comes to parents in postpartum. 

Many parents to be (& seasoned parents) feel unprepared & unequipped for postpartum, forfeiting their self-care & basic physical, mental, & spiritual needs, & scrambling for community resources. This makes this unique season increasingly hard. If Mom & Dad are caring for their newborn who is caring for them?
